What you get
A fast, free way to check any UK phone number — no registration, no cost.
Instant results
Enter a number and see the registered operator immediately. No account needed, no waiting — just type and search.
Privacy safe
We only show the registered operator and, where available, the business name. Personal data is never displayed. Fully compliant with UK privacy regulations.
All major number types
Works with freephone (0800, 0808), shared cost (0845, 0870), local geographical (01, 02), and mobile numbers.
How it works
Enter a UK phone number in the search bar above. We check it against the public number database maintained by the telecom regulator and UK telecom operators, and show you which operator the number is registered to — and, where the data is available, which business or organization uses it.
This is especially useful for shared service numbers like 0800 and 0808, where the operator name alone can tell you whether a number belongs to a bank, a government service, or a scam.
What you can find out
For most numbers, we show the telecom operator the number is assigned to. For freephone and shared cost numbers (0800, 0808, 0845, 0870), the registered business name is often visible as well — because these numbers are allocated directly to organizations rather than individuals.
For local geographical numbers (01 and 02), we show the operator and the area the number is registered in. For mobile numbers, we show the network operator.
What you cannot find out
We do not display personal data — names, addresses, or any information about individuals. If a number is used by a private person, only the network operator is shown. This is by design: UK privacy regulations prevent the public disclosure of personal subscriber data.
If a caller has withheld their number, there is no way to identify it through a lookup tool. The number is blocked at the network level and is not available to any public database.
Please do not phone us for more information about a number. The results shown on this page are all the information we have. We do not hold any additional data about number owners or subscribers, and our team cannot look up anything beyond what this tool already provides.
Checking numbers before you call back
Missed a call from an unfamiliar number? Before calling back, check it here. If the number belongs to a known business or government service, you can call back with confidence. If the operator is unfamiliar or the number does not appear in the database, it may be worth ignoring — especially if the caller left no voicemail.
This is particularly useful for avoiding callback scams, where a missed call from a premium rate number is designed to make you call back at a high per-minute charge.
Useful for businesses too
If you run a business, the lookup tool helps you verify numbers before adding them to your contacts or returning calls. It is also useful for checking competitor numbers, verifying supplier contact details, or confirming that a number ported to your account is correctly registered.
CallFactory customers can use this tool alongside our call insights to cross-reference incoming call data with operator information.
