Activate a Whisper Tone
A whisper tone is a short sound or spoken message that you hear just before a call is connected. The caller does not hear it — only you do. It tells you which number the caller dialled, so you know how to answer.
When is a whisper tone useful?
A whisper tone is handy in several situations:
- Business and personal on one phone — you hear the whisper and instantly know whether to answer with your company name or a personal greeting.
- Multiple webshops or brands — each shop gets its own number with a different whisper, so you always know which brand the caller is enquiring about.
- Multiple international numbers — if you have numbers in several countries, each number can have its own whisper. You know whether to answer in English, German, or French before you even say hello.
- Tracking marketing campaigns — use a different number per campaign and assign each a unique whisper. You can hear in real time which campaign is generating calls.
How to create your whisper tone
There are two ways:
- Record it yourself — use your mobile phone to make a short recording (for example “Webshop UK” or “Campaign Summer”) and send it to us.
- Use our text-to-speech assistant — type your whisper message, choose a voice, and paste the generated code into the dashboard. This makes it easy to update your whispers at any time.
You can also choose from several standard tones and melodies in the dashboard if you do not need a spoken message.
Activate your whisper tone
Contact our support team or enable the whisper tone yourself in the dashboard under Number Settings. The feature is included in every subscription at no extra cost.
