Who is this page for

This page is for businesses that want to be reachable in Brazil without opening a local office. Whether you are selling to Brazilian consumers, supporting Brazilian customers, or expanding into the Latin American market, a Brazilian virtual phone number lets you present a local identity while keeping your operations internationally.

Unlock the Brazilian market from abroad

Brazil is Latin America’s largest economy and the world’s fifth most populous country, with over 210 million people. It is a member of the G20 and BRICS, and its economy spans agriculture, mining, manufacturing, financial services and a rapidly growing technology sector. São Paulo alone has a GDP larger than most countries. A Brazilian phone number gives your business direct access to this vast market.

When a Brazilian customer sees a local São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro number, they recognise it as a domestic call. They pay standard Brazilian rates and feel confident they are dealing with a business that serves the local market. That recognition translates into higher answer rates, more enquiries and stronger customer relationships.

Why Brazil makes sense for businesses

Brazil is the dominant economy in South America, accounting for roughly half the continent’s GDP. The country has a large and growing middle class, high smartphone penetration and an increasingly digital consumer base. Businesses in technology, financial services, education, professional services and consumer goods will find significant opportunities.

The time zone ranges from BRT (UTC-3) in the major business centres to UTC-5 in the western Amazon region. São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are three hours behind London in winter and four hours behind during daylight saving time, allowing reasonable overlap for afternoon calls from abroad.

Portuguese is the official language, and while English proficiency is growing — particularly in technology and business — having a local Brazilian number removes the perception of distance. A São Paulo 11 or Rio 21 number tells your Brazilian customers that you are set up to serve their market.

The South American advantage

Brazil shares borders with nearly every country in South America and serves as the economic engine of the continent. A Brazilian phone number positions your business at the centre of Latin America’s largest market. São Paulo is the financial capital of South America, and Rio de Janeiro remains a major centre for energy, tourism and culture.

For businesses looking to build a presence across Latin America, Brazil is the natural starting point. The country’s size, economic weight and regional influence mean that a Brazilian presence carries credibility across the continent. Combine your Brazilian number with numbers in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico to cover the region’s major markets.

Which Brazilian number suits your business

Toll-free 0800 — Free for callers from any Brazilian phone. Best for customer service lines, support desks and national marketing campaigns where you want to remove any cost barrier. Requires a Brazilian address.

Local area code — City-specific numbers that carry a recognisable area code. An 11 number says São Paulo, a 21 says Rio de Janeiro, a 61 says Brasília. Best for businesses targeting specific cities or states, or wanting to appear locally established. A worldwide address is accepted.

Mobile — A Brazilian mobile number starting with 9. Useful when your customers prefer to reach you on a mobile number, or when you want to use the number for both voice and messaging. A worldwide address is accepted.

For most businesses entering the Brazilian market, a local São Paulo 11 number is the most common starting point. Add a toll-free 0800 line for national customer service coverage once your Brazilian business grows.

How to display your Brazilian number

Brazilian numbers use a trunk prefix 0 for domestic long-distance calls, followed by a carrier selection code and the two-digit area code (DDD). Landline subscriber numbers are eight digits; mobile numbers are nine digits (starting with 9). When displaying internationally, drop the trunk prefix and carrier code, and add +55:

Landline example (São Paulo): 0xx 11 1234 5678 domestically, +55 11 1234 5678 internationally

Mobile example (São Paulo): 0xx 11 91234 5678 domestically, +55 11 91234 5678 internationally

Toll-free example: 0800 123 4567 domestically

On your website, always show the international format with +55 so both Brazilian and international visitors can dial correctly. In advertising targeting Brazilian audiences, use the domestic format.

How it works

You choose a Brazilian number — toll-free 0800, local area code or mobile — and tell us where to forward calls. We activate the number, typically within one business day. When someone in Brazil dials your number, the call routes through our network and reaches you on your landline, mobile or VoIP system. The caller pays standard Brazilian rates (or nothing, for toll-free) and your team answers as if they were in São Paulo.

You manage everything through your online account: change forwarding destinations, set opening hours, configure a phone menu or enable voicemail. No hardware, no installation, no Brazilian office required.

A partner you can trust

CallFactory has been providing international phone numbers since 2000. Established in the Netherlands with Dutch management, we serve thousands of businesses across Europe and the Americas. Our platform handles millions of call minutes each year, and our network is built for reliability and call quality.

We work with licensed Brazilian carriers to ensure number availability and call routing quality. When you need support, our team is available by phone and email during European business hours.

Built for businesses

Our platform is designed for companies that need international numbers without international complexity. You get a single account for all countries, transparent pricing, and a support team that understands the needs of businesses operating in international markets.

Adding a Brazilian number takes minutes. You can combine it with numbers in other countries — Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, the United States — and manage them all from a single dashboard. Scale up or down as your Brazilian business evolves.

Compliance and regulation

Brazilian telecommunications is regulated by Anatel (Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações). Brazilian phone numbers are issued through licensed carriers in compliance with Anatel regulations and Brazilian telecommunications law.

Local area code and mobile numbers accept a worldwide address. Toll-free 0800 numbers require a Brazilian address. CallFactory works with licensed carriers to handle the regulatory requirements on your behalf.

Zero barriers to entry

Getting started takes minutes, not months. Choose your Brazilian number type, provide the required details, and we activate your number — typically within one business day. There are no long-term contracts, no setup fees for most number types, and no minimum call volumes. Start with a single São Paulo number and add more area codes, a mobile number or a toll-free line as your Brazilian presence grows.
