Change call destinations
Your business phone number is virtual, so incoming calls can reach any device you choose: a mobile phone, a landline, a VoIP device, or all three at once. When your situation changes, you adjust the destination, whether you’re moving to a different office, working from home, or transferring calls to a colleague. Just a few clicks in the dashboard and the new routing is live immediately.
You add as many extensions as you need, so there’s no limit to how many devices can receive calls on the same number and no restriction on where those devices are located. A colleague in Miami, another in Los Angeles, and a third working from home all connect on the same business number.
- Route to mobile, landline, or VoIP
- Change destinations anytime from dashboard
- Unlimited extensions per number
- Route calls to devices in any country

How changing destinations works
Every CallFactory number has one or more extensions, which are the phone numbers (mobile, landline, VoIP) that ring when someone calls your business number. You set them up when you activate your number and adjust them anytime after that.
Log into the dashboard, update the extension, and the change goes live within seconds. Prefer another way? Call or email our fantastic support team. There’s no limit to how often you change destinations, so some customers update their routing daily based on who’s working.
Multiple extensions on one number
You’re not limited to one destination per number because you add an extension for each colleague, device, or location. When a call comes in, the system follows the order you’ve set, with the office phone ringing first, then the mobile, then a colleague, until someone answers.
This is how small teams stay reachable without expensive hardware. A team of three people, for example, can each have their mobile as an extension on the same business number, and when an incoming call arrives, all three phones ring simultaneously or in sequence, depending on how you configure it in the dashboard.
Route calls internationally
Extensions aren’t limited to the US because you can add a phone number in any country as a destination. A US phone number can route to a mobile in Mexico, a landline in Canada, or a VoIP device in the UK, and all at once if needed.
This makes it easy to set up a distributed team. Your customers call one central number and the call reaches whoever is available, regardless of where they are. Combine it with a whisper tone, and each team member knows which number the caller dialed before they answer.
Combine with other features
Changing destinations works best combined with other CallFactory features. Turn on calendar-based routing so destinations automatically adjust with your office hours. Add a call queue so callers wait properly when all extensions are busy. Use a selection menu so callers first choose which department they need before the call is routed.
If you need routing beyond what the dashboard offers, use our API to let your own software programmatically update destinations, for example based on your internal scheduling tool or staff calendar.
Free with every number
Changing destinations and adding extensions are free with every CallFactory number.
